Turisme Comunitat Valenciana is promoting Alicante as an urban destination in the United States. The director general of Tourism for the Valencian Community, Herick Campos, has expressed confidence in an “excellent” Easter holiday season. He notes that January and February broke records for visitors at Alicante airport, setting a new high. He also points out the hard work done by the tourism sector to help balance markets and promote year-round stays, despite cost increases for materials and energy as well as new collective bargaining agreements. Campos advocates leveraging the interior of the Valencian Community and partnerships between the coast and the region’s other areas for internal traveler movements. The Valencian tourism authority is currently organizing promotional events in New York to attract more US tourists to the area, with a focus on showcasing the region’s distinctive urban offerings.
